A team led by the Tahsildhar of Agastheeswaram taluk, Ramachandran visited Chengatti bridge near the famous Thanumalayan temple in Suchindrum on Wednesday following a major crack that had developed due to heavy rain, which lashed several parts of the district recently.

According to sources, necessary steps would be taken to carry out maintenance work at the earliest based on a report to be submitted to the Collector by the Tahsildar.

In the meantime, two speed breakers were put up at the beginning and the end of the bridge to regulate traffic.
