Changes will be effected in EMU services

Changes will be effected in EMU services on Thursday owing to line block in connection with the signalling work at Gummidipoondi in Chennai Central – Gudur section.

The following services will be partially cancelled between Ponneri and Gummidipoondi: Moore Market Complex – Gummidipoondi locals leaving MMC at 11.35 a.m. and 12.10 p.m. and Gummidipoondi – MMC locals leaving Gummidipoondi at 1 p.m. and 1.25 p.m.

The following services will be regulated: MMC – Sullurpetta local leaving MMC at 12.40 p.m. will be regulated at Kavaraipettai for 15 minutes and Sullupetta – MMC local leaving Sullurpetta at 1.25 p.m. will be regulated at Elavur for 10 minutes.

Michelin Group MoU with Tamil Nadu, to invest Rupees 4,000 crore in tyre unit

French tyre major, Michelin Group, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu Government for setting up a radial tyre manufacturing unit at Gummidipoondi, about 70 km from here, with an initial investment of Rupees 4,000 crore.

The MoU was signed by Michelin Africa-India Cenral East Regional Head Prashanth Prabhu and State Industries Secretary Farooqui in the presence of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at the State Secretariat.

Talking to reporters after signing the MoU, Mr Prashanth said the facility would come up on a 290-acre area at the Sipcot Complex in Gummidipoondi.

”In the first phase, the company will be investing Rs 4,000 crore and the facility will provide direct job opportunity to 1,500 people,” he added.

”We expect to start the construction work in very near future and production is expected to commence in 2012,” he said, adding the tyre manufacturing unit would be built in stages.

Mr Prashanth also thanked the Tamil Nadu Government for providing a gateway in Chennai to set up their facilties.

He said tyres manufactured here would cater to Chennai and other domestic markets and meet the needs of trucks and buses.
