M K Stalin would leave for New Delhi later to attend a meeting of Manmohan Singh

Tamilnadu Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin would leave for New Delhi later today to attend a meeting of Chief Ministers on price rise. The meeting is to chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh starting Saturday.

The Deputy Chief Minister would represent Tamilnadu on behalf of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.

Stalin, who is on a two-day visit to the capital, is expected to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Union Ministers Pranab Mukherjee, Mamta Baneerjee and Kamal Nath.

Apart from price rise, a range of issues including internal security and law and order problem would be discussed in this two-day meet.

Stalin would discuss in detail the steps taken by Tamilnadu government to control price rise and State government freebies such as one kilo rice for one rupee, essential commodities at low price and the steps taken by the government to control the prices of cereals and pulses.

Stalin would elaborate on various issues including law and order situation in the State and the government schemes.

He would discuss about lack of funds for railway schemes in Tamilnadu with Minister for Railways Mamta Baneerjee and urge her to allocate more funds for the State in the Railway Budget.

He would meet Minister for Finance Pranab Mukherjee and discuss about the Tirupur dyeing units issue. He would meet a host of Central Ministers and discuss about allocation of funds.
