Lawyers, leaders of political parties and members of the public today broadly welcomed a government order (GO) for setting up a district court here.

Kancheepuram Advocates Association President R Abdul Hakim thanked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin among others for the GO.

For long, various sections of the public, political parties and advocates associations had been demanding a district court here.

Till now, the cases were handled by the court at Chengalpet. The government finally passed the GO paving the way for a district court here.
