Nomination papers of four candidates, all independents were rejected


Nomination papers of four candidates, all independents were rejected, when the nominations filed for the March 27 Pennagaram Assembly constituency by-election were taken up for scrutiny today.

Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Naresh Gupta said of the 37 nominations, four had been rejected and the remaining 33 nominations were found valid.

The total number of candidates to be left in the fray would be known on March 13, the last date for withdrawal.

As of now, besides the candidates of the ruling DMK, Opposition AIADMK, PMK and DMDK, there were 25 Indpendents in the fray.
