Chairman and Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Magnesite Limited G. Balan Samson asked the personnel working in mines to wear safety appliances and strictly follow safety measures during work hours.
Participating in a safety awareness programme conducted as a part of the Mines Safety Week Celebrations organised by the Tamil Nadu and Kerala Mines Safety Association here recently, he pointed out that a majority of the accidents in the mines had occurred due to negligence and lack of awareness among the workers on the use of safety appliances.
He advised the workers to learn about various safety appliances and practices.
Apart from addressing safety concerns, the mine managements should also take environmental aspects into consideration, he said.
Later he distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions conducted as a part of the mine safety week celebrations.
Assistant Chief Manager (Mechanical) from Neyveli Lignite Corporation A.L. Nagappan, also spoke.
