SA Chandrasekar to remake ‘Sattam Oru Iruttarai’

SAC‘Sattam Oru Iruttarai’ was one of the important films of the 1980s which is still remembered by many for its bold knot and brave narration. It was the movie that brought Vijayakanth and S A Chandrasekar to limelight.

And now, the filmmaker is gearing up to remake the movie with new faces in the lead. “SAC is currently busy holding auditions and will make an official announcement soon,” say circles close to him.

Saying that the new version would be made according to the tastes and preferences of the younger generation, they add: “The screenplay would undergo some important changes based on today’s scenario.”

Chandrasekar’s last production venture was ‘Veluthu Kattu’, which was directed by his former associate Senpathi Magan. The film which hit screens a couple of months ago was based on incidents happened in SAC’s life

SA Chandrasekar has made a film Vezhuththuk-kattu having a babe named Arundhadhi in the lead role.

Now this Arundhadhi is acting in a movie called Bodinayakkanoor Ganesan.

This Arundhadhi was the same Apsara who acted in the movie Vedappan, which is an utter flop.

This Vedappan Apsara is calling herself as Veluththukkattu Arundhadhi and has taken this new job.

If anyone questions about her Vedappan, she is asking back ‘What is that Vedappan? I have never heard that name before!!!’

Veluthu Kattu audio CD released by Vijay

1The audio CD of ‘Veluthu Kattu’, a film produced by S A Chandrasekaran, was released in Chennai on Wednesday by  . The first copy was received by Kushboo who spoke on length on the lack of Tamil actresses in Kollywood.

“There are a lot of beautiful girls in Tamil Nadu. But our filmmakers are willing to rope in north Indian actresses. However, Chandrasekaran has introduced a Tamil girl as the heroine in this film,” she said.

In his address, Vijay said his father always believed in giving opportunities to freshers than going behind established artistes. “He has created many stars including Vijayakanth, Rahman and Simran,” he said.

Describing Chandrasekaran as a pillar of strength, the actor said, “He always stood behind me. He is the one who would rescue me whenever I am in trouble. I am indebted to him a lot.” ‘Veluthu Kattu’, directed by Senapathimagan, has music score by Bharani.

Others who had attended the audio launch function include Tamil Film Producers Council president Rama Narayanan, Theatre Owners Association chief Abirami Ramanathan, FEFSI president V C Guhanathan and hero and heroine of the movie Kadhir and Arundhathi.

Our Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay’s Trichy visit

Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay met Sun Pictures’ Kalanidhi Maran to thank him for the astounding success of Vettaikaran. The film has already garnered a record collection and the coffers are expected to be filled up even further. Along with Vijay, his father producer-director SA Chandrasekar and Sun Pictures’ CEO Hansraj Saxena were also present during the meeting.

During the meet Kalanidhi Maran reportedly told Vijay to visit the theatres in Trichy where Vettaikaran is being screened as the response from that part of the state is overwhelming. He added that Vijay’s presence could boost the trade even further.

Vikranth-Manasa Marriage

Vijay’s cousin Vikranth, who had acted in films like Karkka Kasadara and Engal Aasan is all set to tie the knot with popular cameraman Hemachandran’s daughter Manasa. The wedding will take place at the Accord Hotel in Chennai on October 21st and the reception will be held on October 20th.

This budding actor has a couple of projects lined up, including the Rasumadhuvaran directed Goripalayam and a venture that is to be directed by Selva. The entire arrangements for the wedding are being taken care of by Vijay’s parents SA Chandrasekar and Shoba Chandrasekar, we hear.

Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan and Vijay laudly speek the Achievement of CM

The 86-year-old Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi was awarded the Ulaga Kalai Padaipaali award for his yeoman service in the film industry, which began at the age of 17, at the All-India Film Workers Conference that began yesterday. The CM was presented with a golden pen with names of all the movies (74 films) for which he had penned the script or story. The award was presented by the FEFSI Chief VC Guhanathan and the office bearers.

The officials of the film associations from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, West Bengal and Mumbai also felicitated the CM. On behalf of Kerala, Sabu Cyril and Mammooty honored the CM with a silk shawl. Similarly, the CM was felicitated by Kollywood’s directors, producers, actors and actresses, which included K Balachander, Bharathiraja, SA Chandrasekar, P Vasu, SP Muthuramam, Vijay Vikram, Vishal, Radha Ravi, Trisha and Sunaina.

The film technicians were in for a surprise when the CM made an announcement that plans are afoot to construct a house for every one of them.

Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Vijay, Rajesh Khanna, VC Guhanathan and Mammooty spoke lauding the achievements of the CM.

The event ended with a grand cultural fest that was hosted by actress Sripriya.
